As families across the UK prepare for half-term activities, National Children’s Gardening Week returns from 23rd–31st May 2026, inspiring children to get outdoors, connect with nature, and discover the joy of growing their own plants.
At Sow Easy, we’re proud to celebrate an initiative that perfectly aligns with our mission of encouraging greener thinking through simple, engaging planting experiences.
Organised annually during the warmer spring season, National Children’s Gardening Week was created to inspire children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for gardening at a time when seeds and plants show quick, rewarding results. The campaign has grown into a nationwide celebration embraced by schools, families, garden centres, and community groups.
This year’s event once again features children’s gardening ambassador Lee Connelly, who is introducing “The Great Garden Centre Mystery” — an interactive adventure designed to make gardening even more exciting and accessible for young minds.
Research highlighted by the Horticultural Trades Association has shown the importance of outdoor spaces for children’s wellbeing, with gardening helping to support physical activity, creativity, education, and mental health.
For Sow Easy, National Children’s Gardening Week is a reminder of how powerful a simple seed can be. Whether it’s planting wildflowers to support pollinators, growing herbs on a windowsill, or sowing sunflowers in the garden, gardening encourages children to learn patience, responsibility, and environmental awareness while having fun outdoors.
Across the UK, events during the week will include seed sowing workshops, treasure hunts, wildlife-friendly gardening activities, and creative planting sessions aimed at children of all ages.
Sow Easy believes promotional products can also play a role in inspiring the next generation of growers. Eco-friendly growing kits, Seedsticks®, and plantable products provide a hands-on way for schools, brands, and organisations to encourage sustainable habits while creating memorable experiences for children and families alike.
As National Children’s Gardening Week 2026 begins, Sow Easy encourages everyone to get outside, plant something new, and help children discover the magic of growing. After all, even the smallest seed can inspire something big.
