The original Seedball Matchbox is manufactured in London by mission led enterprise ‘Seedball’. Founded by two conservation scientists over 10 years ago in a drive to help increase wildflower abundance in the UK, Seedball has won multiple retail awards and sold over 40 million wildflower seed balls.

The Seedball Matchbox contains 6 native bee friendly wildflower seed balls – made from a mix of seeds, clay, peat-free compost and chilli powder. By being encased inside the ball the seeds are protected from being eaten by seed predators (such as birds and ants), helping to increase growth rates compared to loosely scattered seeds. Once sufficient water permeates the clay, the seed inside will begin to germinate – helped along by the nutrients and minerals contained within the ball. The chilli powder continues to deter slugs and snails while the seed ball slowly degrades and the seeds sprout. Instructions are included within each box.

The balls are incredibly easy to use for everyone – simply scatter on top of soil in a balcony pot or garden bed, water and nature will do the rest. A great way to help the bees without the need for gardening expertise!
