A personal note from PSI:

It was with great sadness that we received the news that Walter Jung had died. In the passing of Walter Jung we have lost one of our closest confidants, friends and business partners.

Walter Jung, who very nearly reached the age of 80, is the father and founder of the PSI and was one of the sector’s most distinguished ambassadors worldwide. His words carried weight and he gave the sector a voice which was listened to, right up until the end, by industry and the government.

After founding the PSI-Institute in 1960, Walter Jung went on to launch the PSI Trade Show in 1962. Thanks to his global connections he was able to lay the foundations for the eventual international success of the PSI which was taken over in 1991 by Blenheim, a predecessor of today’s Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH. Right from the outset Walter Jung supported us as a consultant, as a partner and, above all, as a loyal friend.

One particular occasion which we look back on fondly, despite today’s sad news, was the 50th anniversary celebration of the PSI in 2010 at which Walter Jung’s lifetime achievement was honored with a standing ovation.

“I always prefer to look to the future, but it certainly makes getting old easier if the past contains so many gratifying images – entire films, even,” he told the audience of more than 1,200 guests.
We will continue to treasure these images.
