In a recent article published by EPPI, revealed that a new transparency code has been published by The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).

The EFPIA Disclosure Code on Transfers of Value to Health Care Practitioners and Organisations was formally adopted on the 24th June by the EFPIA Board. The new Disclosure Code included a HCP Code Amendments on the prohibition on gifts. The revised paragraph states: No gift or pecuniary advantage (in cash or benefit in kind) may be supplied, offered of promised to a healthcare professional.’

This changes what was originally expected to be allowed in the way of low value promotional products in certain circumstances.

It is reported that the German Promotional Products Umbrella Association (GWW) and The European Promotional Products Association (EPPA) are both challenging the legal position of this decision.
