With 1.9 million single use plastic water bottles, unable to be broken down, added to our ever expanding landfill sites, First Editions have an answer!

Reusing any of our sports bottles is a great way to reduce the volume of plastic entering our landfills, but by using our new Biodegradable sports bottle we are doing even more to help our precious earth.

By adding a simple additive to our granules in the manufacturing process we produce a plastic polymer which upon entering a moisture rich environment containing active biomass (such as a landfill) the bottle will be broken down into CO2 and CH4.  We have full lab reports on biodegration and the product has passed all EU Food and Drink standards. 

The biodegration process is very simple. Most plastic polymers are hydrophobic (repels water) but with the use of our additive we make our bottle more hydrophilic (attracts water). This allows the sterically active polymer chain ends to be attacked and therefore broken down.
