On the 11th of July, Merchandise Mania were delighted to host their highly anticipated “Summer Blockbuster”. Clients from all over the world were invited to The Village Hotel in Elstree, where they were given the chance to meet face to face with some of this industries most prolific and successful suppliers.

The first order of business was to choose a theme for the event. The Olympics and The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee were unlikely to turn any heads, and so it was that Merchandise Mania chose to focus on their location. Their offices are less than half a mile away from Elstree Film Studios – home to such classics as Star Wars and the Indiana Jones films, and so it was that blockbuster movies were chosen as the theme.

The room was decorated with cleverly altered film posters, along with lights, cameras, giant Oscar statues and director’s chairs. Visitors were greeted with Paparazzi and a never ending supply of popcorn – freshly made on the spot by staff from Merchandise Mania, all suitably dressed in their own ‘CREW’ polo shirts!

Throughout the day, a movie was screened featuring some of Merchandise Mania’s clients expressing their views on the promotional merchandise industry, and a live talk was given by a member of the Google team on how they use merchandise themselves – all to a very captive audience.

Some 27 suppliers were on hand to answer questions, and all sales enquiries were documented and handed back to the relevant account managers at Merchandise Mania. Indeed, with well over 100 enquiries to process, everyone is confident that this very special event is going to yield long term dividends.

The number of guests was well in excess of what was anticipated, and everyone commented on how impressed they were with the attention to detail shown by everyone involved. Indeed, if Merchandise Mania can demonstrate this level when it comes to their own marketing, then their customers have only to imagine what it is they can do for them.

Plans are already underway for a bigger and better show next year, with more suppliers, a whole new venue and a brand new theme.
