Why is it when you hear the words ‘Will you sponsor me?’, many people are filled with dread? Perhaps it is because you get that question a lot? Perhaps it is because you like to choose what you support? Or perhaps it is because you feel obliged?

Well, that’s not the case here, we just want to let you know what is happening.

Liz Young, supplier service director at Sourcing City is running this year’s London Marathon in aid of Creating Futures; a charity dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable children and young people local to her. Liz spends time volunteering at Creating Futures so it was her natural choice, and she is their only runner!

Creating Futures work to lift young people out of cycles of poverty and support them through challenges they face on a daily basis. Their dedicated team provide a range of support services alongside their youth groups and play provision. Additional services include a group to support young carers who have caring responsibilities for parents/children, supporting children at risk of child sexual exploitation, supporting young people on the cusp of crime and carrying out sexual health and relationships education in schools.

Liz said; “This is truly a very special charity and I am honoured to be running for them; no less because I can see exactly how the money will be used and how grateful each person that uses these services will be.”

This film on the Marathon is quite fun if you fancy watching it too. Click here to watch.
