As reported in SC News, the EU Commission imposed overnight anti-dumping duties on imports of ceramic tableware and kitchenware originating from China in November 2012. The additional duties were as high as 58%.

In response, EPPA filed an official complaint with the EU Trade Commissioner, resulting in the meeting with the Trade Injury Team. One of these meetings was also attended by the BPMA to explain the expected consequences for the UK/European promotional products industry. Most EU States also opposed the duty. Following several hearings at the European Commission, EPPA lodged an appeal.

We understand that the European Commission have now recommended a reduced duty rate from 13.1% and 36.1%. Appears a small victory for the industry, but still additional taxes where there weren’t any before.
