The European Parliament has recently approved several key simplification and postponement measures designed to ensure a smoother, more workable transition for businesses navigating the EUDR framework:

• ⏳ Postponement of Compliance: A 12-month phasing-in extension has been granted, allowing companies additional time to strengthen the IT systems required for electronic due diligence reporting. This extension supports a more stable and effective rollout of the regulation.
• 📄 Simplified Obligations: Obligations have been streamlined to reduce administrative pressure. Only the first operator placing a product onto the EU market must submit a full due diligence report, while subsequent operators face reduced requirements. Micro and small primary operators will benefit from a simplified, one-time submission – a welcomed step in ensuring proportionality and fairness.
• ⚖️ Next Steps: With the regulatory text now approved, negotiations with Member States will begin to finalise the law. The completed legislation is expected to be published in the EU Official Journal by the end of 2025, with its entry into force delayed by one year in line with the newly adopted amendments ➡️✨.
