Everything Seeds has said goodbye to Ben, who’s leaving after just over six months to chase his passion for filmmaking. It’s a fond farewell to a much-liked member of the team, and the send-off, fittingly, meant swapping seed bombs for dry bags.

The team spent his last week out on the water, paddleboarding on a lake near the office. Based in the heart of the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, they had the countryside on the doorstep. There were a few wobbles, but everyone got the hang of it quickly, and were pleasantly surprised the lake wasn’t as cold as expected. Founder Toby enjoyed it so much he’s already planning a return trip, dog in tow.

Ben is spending the next two months on the road with Field and Folk, a documentary he’s been working on. Through farmers, historians, conservationists and local people, it looks at how centuries of working the land have shaped the countryside around us, and at those protecting it as farming and the environment change. For a team that thinks about seeds and soil all day, it felt like a fitting next step for him.

“Ben has been an absolute pleasure to have around,” said founder Toby. “He brought fun, energy and enthusiasm to every day, and that lifts a whole team. Six months went far too quickly. We’ll miss him, but if anyone can make a go of this, it’s Ben, and we can’t wait to see the film.”

So it’s a fond farewell from all of us, and the very best of luck to Ben and Field and Folk.
