The firm was recently awarded the Promotional Gift Award 2020 for its upcycled socks that come in self-sealed compostable bags. Now the company has created an environmentally friendly version of the famous “Ugly” Christmas Sweater. The company believes their sweaters are so ugly, they are actually beautiful.
The upcycled yarn is delivered from used clothing and pattern cutting scraps from garment production. The upcycling process is mechanical. No water, dyes, or chemicals are used and the production process is near zero C02 and 50% solar-powered factory. Upcycling has a significantly lower impact on the environment than recycling.
Moreover, the company uses an energy savings calculator to determine the amount of savings gained in the production of the sweaters or socks their clients have ordered. Their clients receive a chart with the saved amounts of pollutants, emissions, water, landfill, and bottles.
“We are proud to introduce eco-sustainable knitted sweaters that we know will be a hit. We’re proud to use upcycled cotton to deliver fashionable clothing that makes the most of available resources and helps you maintain your own environmental credentials”, says Robert Armour, Managing director of the company.
The upcycled cotton that the company uses for its upcycled sweaters is readily available in up to 20 colours, but the textile firm can produce the products with other colours upon request. The minimum quantity order per design via service@wearekingly.com is from only 250 units from either the 2-coloured knitted sweaters or the 6-coloured knitted sweaters.
