Roddy Rutland; Managing Director & CEO at Headwear UK for 17 years and a stalwart of our industry, has been on leave since October 2016 trying to recharge his batteries and doing all good things for mind, body and spirit after a tough period of family bereavement, health issues and pressures of life.

Roddy was due to return to the hectic life and business of our industry in early February. Through it all, we understand he gave himself the best chance to think about the way forward, both personally and with work. After much consideration, he has decided to retire as Managing Director & CEO at Headwear UK, beginning this month.

Roddy said; “I tried to retire back in October as my drive was waning and my health was not good, but my partners would not hear of it without giving me the opportunity to consider my position and recuperate. I took a 3 month sabbatical, where I have had time to recharge my batteries. As many of you know my health has not been the best in the past couple of years, and so I have decided to stop now and enjoy the things that are most important to me. Of course, this does not mean that I will be leaving Headwear altogether as I will remain a partner in the business for years to come, but I will be taking a much reduced part in day to day operations. It’s been a great journey for me, I’ve loved every minute of being part of our loyal customers’ businesses and would thank you all for your loyal and consistent support.”

All at Headwear are saddened to see Roddy leave, but they respect his difficult decision and wish him well, and good health going forward.

Peter Barblett, Senior Partner and CEO of the Headwear Group commented: “We will miss his enormous contribution to the company here in UK since its inception in 1999, and indeed, the international Headwear Group will miss his leadership.”

In the immediate future your orders will be in the good hands of the capable Headwear Team, and Peter Barblett, will continue to guide and manage Headwear UK from their Essex offices during this time of transition. Headwear UK will be seeking a new CEO and, of course, we will be ensuring that they remain focussed on customer needs and expectations.
