Serial winners

Did you know that gin can light up on touch? That photos can be printed onto m&ms? That you can get a cake in a jar? Cookable cookbooks? Bags made out of old work clothes? And that all of these things are distinguished promotional products?

Distinguished in the true sense of the word, because these products are among the 37 winners of the Promotional Gift Awards 2013. The Promotional Gift Award has been organised by the Cologne-based publishing company, WA Publishing, for eleven years and it pays tribute to innovative promotional products.  This year the jury was made up of industry experts from Germany, Austria and Switzerland: Birgit Weigel (Volkswagen Zubeh?r GmbH), Eva Spahn (Lufthansa WorldShop GmbH), Martin Zettl (marke[ding]), Michael M?tzener (diewerbeartikelgmbh) and Michael Scherer (WA Publishing). In total 233 entries were submitted to the competition in eight categories. In addition to the traditional categories “Give-aways”, “Communicative Products”, “Premium Products and Brands” as well as “Custom-made Products”, this year for the first time the jury members also assessed entries in the categories “Best Practice”, “Packaging” and “Customising Techniques”.

All of the 37 award-winning products are posted online now at www.promotionaward.com.  The official prize-winning ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 20, 2013 in Cologne’s E-Werk, when the winners will be presented with their trophies during the HAPTICA? live event. Furthermore, all of the winning items will be on show in a special exhibition at the HAPTICA ? live- attending the day-time event is free of charge, visitors simply have to register in advance at www.haptica-live.de.

Similar to the Promotional Gift Award, the HAPTICA? live also focuses on marketing using the senses: No other form of advertising attains such a high acceptance level as promotional products.  The HAPTICA? live will demonstrate how much energy and creativity is present in the marketing sector: Around 40 exhibitors will be displaying the highlights of their portfolios, in addition to the winners of the Promotional Gift Awards 2013 there is going to be a special show dedicated to best-practice examples of successful campaigns.  In the scope of a seminar programme marketing experts will be reporting on the implementation of haptic advertising for their corporate communication: For example the theme addressed by Georg Sch?fer, Spokesman of the Board of Directors of Sion K?lsch, will be: “You don’t have to understand Cologne. You have to feel Cologne. Haptic Cologne marketing made by Sion.”

The event addresses all people professionally involved with marketing and haptic advertising: Promotional products buyers and advisers, marketing decision-makers, advertising agency employees, service providers of the advertising industry and company executives.
