Over the last decade or so, many companies in the promotional merchandise have been working hard to achieve ISO 9001 and ISO14001 and when successful in achieving the standards say that they have “attained an ISO accreditation”.  But actually this is a mistake and a common one, of which I was also guilty until last year when I became a Consultant and started working more closely with a specialist partner company gaining further knowledge about the process.

The word “accreditation” refers to the body or organisation, such as BSI, who issue the certificates to companies qualifying for ISO9001, for example.  The company achieving the ISO standard get a Certificate, or Certification, but not an accreditation.  Please click on the link below to see the full explanation.
