On the 4th September Richard and Sam of the Cotton Textile Company will be really testing their resolve by jumping from an aeroplane 10,000 feet above Cornwall.
The reason behind this is to supports Richard’s daughter Molly to raise money for Bristol Royal Infirmary Children’s Hospital for the care that she received through the Autumn of 2015.
On the 19th August 2015 Molly was diagnosed with Auto Immune Encephalitis. This is a condition that causes the brain to either forget simple tasks or deliver messages to the wrong areas of the body which creates some very unusual behaviour.
Molly was in BRI for 3 months, thankfully she has no memory of her time there, and has now made a full recovery. Richard King says, ‘there were times last year where we really didn’t know what the future held. This time last year we expected Molly to miss a year of school. The team at BRI are amazing and have helped Molly make her recovery to the point where the day after the jump she will start attending Falmouth Marine School to study Marine Biology.’
Richard goes on to say, ‘Bristol Royal Infirmary Children’s Hospital has some of the best facilities for children in the South West and is certainly a prime hospital for children with brain issues. We feel lucky that we had their support and help and want to do our bit to ensure that others can benefit as well, hence this insane idea of Molly’s to jump from a plane!’
Molly, Richard and Sam will be accompanied by Molly’s godfather Brian and his son Danny both of which are raising money for the fund.
