Undeterred from his previous fund raising challenges of cycling over 360 kilometres around Cuba, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and walking across the Sahara Desert, Bardon Group manager director Nigel Toplis is pushing himself once more with a new adventure.

Next month, Nigel will be taking part in a ten day trek across the Sumatran Jungle in Indonesia, as he aims to raise at least £10,000 for UK charity, WellChild. Nigel has been supporting the children’s charity for over a decade and has personally helped to raise a staggering £50,000 for the appeal.

Says Nigel: “I recognise how fortunate I am to be in a very good place, both personally and professionally and wanted to do something meaningful to help others who are not as fortunate. I’ve always pushed myself to the limit and will give my all for this challenge as well. It’s a great way for me to combine my sense of adventure with raising money for a most worthy cause.

As a regular supporter of WellChild I have been to several presentations where we heard very moving stories from children and families who have been helped by the charity which has spurred me on to want to raise even more this year.”

Nigel will undertake the punishing trek over rivers, mountains and tropical rainforests, in 35-40 degree heat, whilst keeping an eye out for the elusive Sumatran tiger. He embarks on this latest venture once again with friend and colleague, Recognition Express Home Counties North owner, Russell Golding.

WellChild helps sick children and their families throughout the UK as they deal with the consequences of serious illness and complex conditions. The organisation’s mission is to reach as many children and young people as possible through focusing on care, support and research.
